The proposal is inspired on the organic shapes of the bay seaside.
The building wants to evoke the geometric world of the undulating water and the undulating light from the aurora borealis. Enormous drops that become solid and lay down in the park, like pieces of bright ice that shape/mold the library.
The project is conceived from a system, or a geometrical pattern of identical circles whose centers define an equilateral triangular mesh of 6,90 m side. Three of these circles and their tangents conform the big triangular pieces, that in different sizes and positions configure the building.
The geometrical definition and the material expression of its enclosure announce that even though it accommodates very different kind of uses/programs, this is about a unique building that belong to both, a same timing and a same site.
A thick and glassy double skin hides the structure, setting up an undulating wall made up by narrow and tall pieces of white and opaline casted glass, that sets a vertical rhythm and unifies its exterior appearance passing on lightness, brightness, luminosity and unity to the whole.
This tense, bright, light and translucent enclosure, allows natural light to come through; while during night, the artificial light that illuminates the interior, turns the building into a lantern/torch/flashlight illuminating the park.
